چکیده

In this randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, we evaluated the role of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) in multimodal treatment (nonopioid analgesics and kinesiotherapy) postoperative pain following open inguinal hernia repair. In total, 80 males participants with elective primary unilateral Lichtenstein repair were randomly allocated to receive TENS or a placebo-TENS procedure. The group received local segmental conventional on first second days. group, intensity was set at 0 0.5mA. Change level rest, when walking, standing up from bed, pressure algometry parameters additional analgesic use main outcomes.Reduction VAS score absolute relative relief observed procedures compared (P< .001). threshold maximal tolerable side equal before procedure both groups (P= .84), but after procedure, these higher Additional nonopioid requirements lower days .001).TENS is safe that can reduce repair. The study registered database clinicaltrials.gov (register number NCT03739060).PerspectiveThis article presents as effective nonpharmacologic intervention repair. could be used daily practice part treatment, especially for patients suffering hyperalgesia.

conclusions tens can reduce postoperative pain in the early hours after inguinal hernia repair surgery. results the mean estimated postoperative pain intensity was 6.21 ± 1.63 in the intervention group and 5.45 ± 1.82 in the control group (p = 0.08). in the intervention group pain intensity at 2 and 4 hours after surgery were 3.54 ± 1.48 and 5.12 ± 1.41 (p < 0.001), respectively. in the control...

Preemptive Analgesic Effects of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) on Postoperative Pain: A Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Trial

BACKGROUND Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) is a non-pharmacological analgesic method used to control different types of pain. OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of preoperative TENS on post inguinal hernia repair pain. PATIENTS AND METHODS This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial was performed on 66 male patients with unil...

[Postoperative transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) in shoulder surgery (randomized, double blind, placebo controlled pilot trial)].

BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to determine whether 3 days of TENS therapy postoperatively after shoulder operations would result in better pain relief and/or reduced analgesic intake when compared to placebo. METHOD The study was carried out randomized, double-blind and placebo controlled. Thirty patients were randomized to two groups. The verum group received TENS SM1AKS 80 Hz 6 mA an...
